César de la Fuente receives the American Society of Microbiology’s Award for Early Career Basic Research. Tanja Mittag and Enrique M. De La Cruz are named fellows by the Biophysical Society.

Honors for Emr, Sundquist, Ohm and Szoo

Scott Emr and Wesley Sundquist won the 2024 Louisa Gross Horwitz Prize. Adam Ohm and Madeline Szoo have been awarded scholarships by the Fellowship Board of Tau Beta Pi.

The Council on Undergraduate Research honors Shubhik DebBurman with a mentoring award. Anush Margaryan wins a Projects for Peace grant to teach refugees in Armenia. UPenn names Andrew Santiago–Frangos an endowed assistant professor.

Karen Fleming elected president of Biophysical Society. The Eastern Analytical Symposium honors Ben Garcia for achievements in mass spec. Tufts University names Alice Lichtenstein a distinguished professor.

Honors for Bassler, Hirschberg and Prinz

Bonnie Bassler is listed in Forbes’ 50 Over 50, Carlos Hirschberg is named an honorary professor at the Universidad Andres Bello of Chile, and William Prinz is one of 17 new fellows of the ACSB.

Honors for Pagliarini, Sarkar and Thompson

Pagliarini is named an HHMI investigator, Sarkar is awarded the Order of Canada and Thompson receives a UMass BRIDGE grant.
