Student presenting a poster

Undergraduate Poster Competition

On Saturday, April 12, nearly 300 undergraduate students will present their research in the 29th annual Undergraduate Poster Competition.

Each year, the competition kicks off the ASBMB annual meeting and provides an opportunity for undergraduate researchers to practice their presentation skills and receive constructive feedback from a panel of judges to help them prepare for the presentations they will give later on during the main meeting. Undergraduates selected to compete will be organized into six topic categories, with a winner and three honorable mentions awarded in each category. All competitors will receive written feedback to help them improve their presentations. You may apply for the competition while submitting your abstract on the abstract submission site.

Eligibility

  • You must be an undergraduate student and submit an abstract to the ASBMB Annual Meeting as the primary author (first author) by the Dec. 9 on-time abstract submission deadline.
  • You must indicate an interest in participating in the competition on the abstract-submission form.
  • You must be the only presenter for your poster.

Due to space limitations, not all who are interested in competing will be selected. Priority will be given to students who are ASBMB undergraduate members or ASBMB Student Chapters members. You can register for an annual student membership for just $20. Other selection criteria vary but may include class year and ensuring broad representation of institutions in the competition. Competitors will be notified in January.
