Good research practices involve more than just following a protocol and keeping your notebook up to date. Besides avoiding research misconduct — fabrication, falsification and plagiarism — scientists must consider the ethical implications of their research before even picking up a pipette. For new scientists, or even experienced researchers, these are difficult waters to navigate.
