New UAN Chapter

How to Start a Chapter of the UAN:

All UAN chapters must be sponsored by a regular member of the ASBMB in good standing. This faculty advisor will be the primary contact for the chapter's activities.  The sponsoring faculty advisor will identify student members and submit annually a completed UAN membership application form and fee of $200 (for up to 10 students).   Additional student members can be added at $20 per student. 

Individual Student Members Interested in the UAN: 

If an individual ASBMB student member at an institution that does not have a faculty advisor or a UAN Chapter wishes to start a UAN, please contact Weiyi Zhao, ASBMB Manager of Education and Professional Development,  for assistance in starting a new chapter.

Multiple UAN Chapters at a Single Institution:

Universities with distinctly different departments wishing to have more than one UAN chapter within the institution must submit a request for approval by ASBMB and the UAN Committee prior to submitting applications and membership fees.  Please submit such requests to Weiyi Zhao.

Deadlines for 2011 UAN membership application:

• October 15, 2010 for chapters wishing to apply for UAN Travel Awards to the 2010 ASBMB Annual Meeting. 
• December 15, 2010 for all chapters.
